Notes Against the Family Archive is an essayistic reflection on family, photography, and the idea of home. Beginning with the discovery of a buried history of abuse after the author's grandfather's death, the book approaches the family archive as a site of silence, embedded trauma, and emotional residue.

Francisco Nuno Rodrigues (b. 2001, Funchal, PT) is an artist and filmmaker born in Madeira Island. He studied Fine Art at Falmouth University (Falmouth, UK) and holds an MA in Media Art from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (Lisbon, PT).
His work has been presented in galleries, festivals and independent art spaces, including FEST – New Directors | New Films Festival (Espinho), Livraria Aberta (Porto), Dupla Cena 77 (Lisbon), and VAGA – espaço de arte e conhecimento (Azores). In 2025, his debut short film, O Leite das Monarcas, received the Young Talents Prize from the Cecília Zino Foundation as well as an Honourable Mention at the National Grand Prix of FEST – New Directors | New Films Festival.
Currently, Francisco is interested in provoking the historical and emotional narratives latent in the family archive.
